PTI to stage protest against PM at Parliament House tomorrow

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to stage a protest at the Parliament House on Sunday (tomorrow) in support of the judiciary. PTI chairman Imran Khan will lead the “Unity March” to Islamabad from Lahore.

Though the party has not given any call to its supporters to attend the “Unity March”, its supporters and activists have voluntarily arranged a march from different parts of the cities to strengthen the hands of their leader as they feel that the government’s defiance of the judiciary will lead the country to a point of no return.

From Karachi the youngsters have started leaving for Islamabad in different groups. The “Unity March” in support of the judiciary was announced by Khan following a Supreme Court’s ruling which convicted Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in a contempt of court case for not writing a letter to the Swiss authorities.

The opponent parties, including the PML-N, have geared up their campaign for the ouster of Gilani as according to them a convicted PM has no right to remain seated on a coveted post. The Sharif brothers have also invited Imran Khan to make his PTI part of the cause, but he has refused the offer and said that the Sharifs had always ditched and betrayed people in the past and were in the habit of deceiving its ally for their own vested interests.

Khan continuing with his stance has arranged a solo flight to Islamabad with the determination that they will continue to surround the Parliament House till the PM tenders his resignation; he is rather optimistic that the PTI will force the prime minister to do so.

Secretary General PTI Dr Arif Alvi said that the “Unity March” would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the government. He added that the cruel and corrupt rulers had once again insulted the judiciary.

If the PM of any other country would have been convicted, he would have resigned immediately, he said, warning that if Gilani did not resign, the PTI would besiege the Aiwan-e-Saddar. He described the behaviour of the rulers as intolerable.

To hide their own corruption, he said the rulers had pushed the whole country into darkness and put its sovereignty at stake. Alvi was of the opinion that the PTI was the only party that could save the country, and vowed that all its supporters and leadership were behind the judiciary.
