KABUL – A female bomber killed 12 people in Kabul September 18 in the deadliest single attack related to protests over a film that Muslims see as an insult to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
ecurity officials said nine foreigners were among those killed when the bomber blew up her station wagon near a minivan carrying foreign workers along a major highway leading to the Kabul airport.
The South African Foreign Ministry confirmed that eight of its citizens, all believed to have been men working for a private aviation company, were killed. A Kyrgyz citizen was also reported among the dead.
Hezb-i-Islami, the second-largest insurgent group after the Taliban, claimed responsibility.
More than 30 people have been killed in violence after a trailer for the film was publicised.
