NATO Threatens to Suspend Aid to Afghanistan

Kabul, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) NATO senior officials threatened today to suspend all aid to Afghanistan if President Hamid Karzai maintains his position regarding a delay in the signing of a security agreement with the United States. In a statement from its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, reported in the capital, the North Atlantic alliance is pressing Karzai to sign that covenant before the end of the year, otherwise it will withdraw support for the armed forces in that country.

The position taken by the head of the Afghan state received rare support today from the Taliban insurgency, which in a statement digitally also demanded that the treaty with Washington be canceled.

The text from the insurgency expresses that the Afghan nation will never agree to the presence of foreign forces. One of the chapters of the agreement allows the Pentagon to keep troops in the country until 2024 with military immunity for any who commit crimes.

The political, religious and insurgent group says that the main cause of violence and evil in the country is the foreign military occupation.

In recent days, the Grand National Council or Loya Jirga, made up of venerable elders, tribal leaders and political figures in Afghanistan, overwhelmingly approved an immediate signing of the security agreement.

However, President Karzai has made it conditional on an end to Pentagon operations and the release of prisoners at the U.S. military base at Guantanamo.

While in Tehran, Iranian Ministry spokesperson on Foreign Affairs Marziyeh Afkham considered that the treaty between the United States and Afghanistan will not bring any benefit to Kabul and instead will have negative consequences for the region.

NATO threats are becoming increasingly aired out in the public and hilarious too. I mean Europe is broke. America is broke. The West is no longer the world power it once was. They need to wake up and realize this because the more they talk, the weaker the situation becomes, and the region sees it- the world sees it.
