Yeah my family lives in a Qalaa back home, it's haunted too, pretty creepy. There was a battle around the castle during the British and Afghan war. It was also a military base, my ancestors owned it. We call the castle Qalagai, it's in Ningarhar. There is a section that nobody goes to because you get rocks thrown at you from thin air (it's haunted). It's really scary, but beautiful.

sure different from when i was there. i don't even recall a 2 story building.
amazing how quickly and dramatically, places can change.

1977. some places haven't changed much, that i have been back to after many years.
had no particular expectation just got a suprise. got a problem with that?

Very beautiful and interesting city and region. Good to see that people are building and prosper more because Afghanistan has been hit hard with problems.

Especially the masjid al-jumʿa in Herat is beautiful.
