People like me, are hardly a walking advertisement for 'Western' values - I'm quite a traditionalist - and yet, some of the most "westernised" Pashtoons here think Tor_Khan is actually, not too bad. I might not like their position one single bit, but on this forum there are many who want to connect to their roots and the wider community and I think we should give them a chance.

I find it surprising that a couple of years at (western) universities suddenly turns folk into experts on Islam, politics and Pashtooniyat. Everybody wants change in the Pashtoon homelands - and before we think we've figured out the solutions, we should go and ask the people who live there what they think. The world is laughing at us and personally, I find all the dramatic exits on this forum embarrassing ... another Pashtoon goes down ... great entertainment value for anyone watching how we behave.
There's a massive disconnect that starts with those very qualities that to me - make a complete non-Pashtoon into a Pashtoon. Living in comfortable western surroundings, do we learn so little from our elders that we can't put anything they taught us to any good use? Things, like respect for the people around you, listening to an alternative point of view* and knowing that not every point of difference you have with a person ends in a duzz-duzz shoot-out. What kind of Pashtoonwali is this that we claim to be defending?
*think how matter are talked through in our traditional jirgas
Anyone disagree with a Moderator? Fine. We're human. You're welcome to pick up the disagreement and work through it with the Moderator - invite in another Moderator if need be.

I agree with most of what you are saying. One thing I don't get is, how being Nar Pakhtun can coincide with tolerating others to insult our religion and call it Arab imperialism.
Being tolerant to different views is one thing, letting ignorant little children walk all over us is another thing.
There should be a set limit that non_muslims or Islam-critics and their likes must not be able to cross.
This is a relatively new forum. And the conflicts and controversies what are going on now will shape the image and status of this forum for the future.
I think it a shame for us Pashtuns to see every online community turn into a stronghold of atheists, immoral people and Islam critics. Just look at Khyber watch and afghan forums.
Do we need this forum to turn in another circus where people come and make fun of our religion and ridicule us?
It's quite embarassing to see the whole Islamic world considering Afghans/Pashtuns as one of the most brave Muslims ever. And yet, when you enter an online community of Pashtuns all you see is ranting atheists and similar type of clowns.
