I don't find anything wrong with these appreciation threads.

In effect, it does bring the forum together and creates a better atmosphere for discussion. It releases tension among the debaters, and it brings into light that at the end of the day it is all a war of ideas and that there should be no hard feelings. When all said and done, the only thing we all share and have in common is humanity itself and that in itself means we are all equal.

I would encourage more appreciation threads, for that right reason, of course, and that being for the purpose of appreciating someone's contribution.
