^ so far i have tried these, i would love to try others, i still have no idea what they eat in most places in Europe/Russia, African, South America etc... Too bad you can't really find many restaurants from those regions here in the west Haris 10-07-2011, 06:00 PM You like Somalian food? I hear they eat banana with rice?
I rarely eat out at restaurants so my choice of cuisines is imited to Pakistani/North Indian and good old British Fish 'n Chips.
Italian food is good as well. Digital Malang 10-07-2011, 06:06 PM Karachi, why is there a "/" between Afghan and iranian? Karachi 10-07-2011, 06:17 PM You like Somalian food? I hear they eat banana with rice?

somali food is very underrated, they have one of the best rice/meat dishes i have tried, and yes they do have banana with rice, its unusual but a nice experience. Karachi 10-07-2011, 06:18 PM Karachi, why is there a "/" between Afghan and iranian?
isn't generic afghan/iranian food similar?? of course the regional foods will be different DaZahroJaam.. 10-07-2011, 06:57 PM arabic food servings are so large. i had some yesterday and i haven't developed an appetite for a proper meal ever since. DaZahroJaam.. 10-07-2011, 07:04 PM the banana they cook is called plantain bananas and they are not always sweet when cooked. Laila 10-07-2011, 10:55 PM Karachi, Iranians and Afghans do not have the same cuisine.
Iranians use green peas and saffron in their rice.....usually they do not let the rice to get very soft, making it like a dry structure. They dont eat much stew like meat or biryani style dishes. They use lots of fruits in their dishes. Their kabab tends to be dry as well. But with a lot of tomatoes and onions on the side. Their bread is different too. 0% diversity in manchester, everythings indian (well the halal stuff) Karachi 10-08-2011, 02:42 AM Yummy somali food that i just had:

Dam pukht, Tikka, Kabaab and most of all the Afghani Pulao !! Brilliant !! tor_khan 10-08-2011, 07:24 AM I had a Thai Green Curry last Ramadan after I came out of the airport. It was kind of an essential iftar meal that I had at the hotel restaurant. The rice was predictably sticky. I can't remember what I had for desert, suffice to say the selection on offer was Thai.
The after taste of the curry was so strong that I could still taste it for weeks after and it gave me serious doubts as to whether my fasting after that particular Iftar was valid as a result.
Also, on a side note please NO aubergines. Or at least not so many. I had so many aubergines when on vacation in North Africa one year, that I was hallucinating them when I got back.
Lebanese food is amongst my favourite especially Shish Tawook, variations of which also turns up in places like Kabul and Istanbul. یاسمینه 10-08-2011, 08:08 AM Moroccan, Lebanese, Greek and French... but I rarely eat meat. MohannaD 10-11-2011, 01:43 AM how come i have never heard of Russian cuisine? its a really big country, what do they eat up there?
I tried their food in Dubai " Arbat Restaurant " , liked it but some of the dishes were FULL of fat . In Tajikistan I think I ate Russian food , not sure though . al-arab 10-14-2011, 07:05 AM Arab cuisine (specially from the Levant and Iraq (very similar) which means Iraqi, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egyptian cuisine).
I also like Iranian, Italian, French and some Indian dishes.
I unfortunately don't know much Afghan cuisine. I suspect Tajik to be much similar to Iranian with Russian influences and Pashtun to have more Pakistani influences? Is that correct? I have not tested much Pakistani nor Afghan (Pashtun) food. al-arab 10-14-2011, 07:47 AM You can read about great Iraqi Cuisine in this link.
"
Iraqi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq) cuisine or Mesopotamian cuisine has a long history going back some 10,000 years - to the Sumerians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer), Babylonians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonia) and Assyrians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyria).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_cuisine#cite_note-Salloum-0) Tablets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clay_tablet) found in ancient ruins in Iraq show recipes prepared in the temples during religious festivals - the first cookbooks in the world.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_cuisine#cite_note-Salloum-0) Ancient Iraq (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Iraq), or Mesopotamia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesopotamia), was home to many sophisticated and highly advanced civilizations, in all fields of knowledge - including the culinary arts.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_cuisine#cite_note-Salloum-0) However, it was in the medieval era (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age) when Baghdad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad) was the capital of the Abbasid Caliphate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbasid_Caliphate) that the Iraqi kitchen reached its zenith.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_cuisine#cite_note-Salloum-0) Today, the cuisine of Iraq reflects this rich inheritance as well as strong influences from the culinary traditions of neighbouring Turkey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey), Iran (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran) and the Greater Syria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Syria) area.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_cuisine#cite_note-Salloum-0)
Meals begin with appetizers and salads - known as Mezza (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezze). Some popular dishes include Kebab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kebab) (often marinated with garlic, lemon and spices, then grilled), Gauss (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma) (grilled meat sandwich wrap, similar to Döner kebab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%B6ner_kebab)), Bamia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamia) (lamb, okra and tomato stew), Quzi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansaf) (lamb with rice, almonds, raisins and spices), Falafel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falafel) (fried chickpea patties served with amba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amba_(condiment)) and salad in pita (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pita)), Kubbah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibbeh) (minced meat ground with bulghur or rice and spices), Masgouf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masgouf) (grilled fish with pepper and tamarind), and Maqluba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maqluba) (a rice, lamb, tomato and aubergine dish). Stuffed vegetable dishes such as Dolma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolma) and Mahshi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuffed_peppers) are also popular."
