you then get fully registsred with the GMC
You then move up 1 rung of the medical hiarachy and become an SHO Dr. Your 1st yr as an SHO dr is again made up of 3 4 month attachments but this time you can do all three in whatever takes your fancy ( this is prepareing you for specialisation) I did Geriatric medicine, Public Health and Trauma and Orthopedics. as you move up the resposnibilities increase and so does the pay.... you must also pass the exams of the royal college of your chosen speciality... Exception is family medicine which only takes 3 years to complete... thats 2 years as an SHO Dr and 1 year as a Registra Dr

Medical schools are pretty much the same with slight variations, mines was like this:
Yr 1- basic sciences with emphesis mainly on physiology ( exams and Viva at end) plus regular exams every 3 months
Yr2 - basic sciences basic sciences with emphesis on pathology ( exams with viva- huge focus on histology) plus regular exams every 2 months
yr 3- clinical - general med and general suregery -focus on endocrine/metabolisim and cardio respiratory and also 2 month block of ethics and Pathology and clinical thereputics
yr 4- Obs and Gynae, ENT, neuro, peads, derm, orthopedics, psychiatry, basically all specialities ( by far the hardest yr) exams at end and Vivas ( exams every 2 months as well)
yr 5 - general med and general surgery- focus on geriatrics and locomotor systems
-final exams and vivas
-Graduation
