Default Dress with pants? - 03-30-2011, 03:33 PM

So I was wondering- would/do any of you wear dresses/sundresses with pants and a long sleeve shirt underneath? Like those of you that wear hijab would you hijabify it?

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think its tacky? Dresses like this...

i think i just bought the wrong type, it has too many layers.

why buy dresses like that and then wear layers over or under them, ruins the way the dress looks

I don't like the dresses with pants and then something underneath it (for myself i mean)... some girls that i have seen wear it look sooo gorgeous... but for me its just bleh, too many layers... i try to buy shirts that either have sleeves or don't buy the shirt at all... it is sooo difficult to shop considering all the appropriate measures one has to take.

as gulalai said, not everyone can pull off all those layers... I am one of them.

Personally, like a couple of ladies have mentioned here, its too many layers. Either you look like you have too much going on, or uncomfortable. I hate layers of clothing, very phobic about it.

Personally that dress seems a little short and doesnt have sleeves. It is kinda hard to find right modest dresses, for us, i always have a hard time, but get creative. Now maxi dresses are on sale and huge for this season, buy a few, and since they reach till your feet you dont have to wear pants.....find a cute long sleeved cardigan, particularly an abstract color, and wear it over....then a nice necklace, with a hijab, would look beautiful!

While i was in Kabul, i did wear medium sized dresses, over slacks or trousers, with a scarf.....though it was pretty warm, but mehhh it was whatever.

I used to do that when I was around 18 and 20. At 23 I feel too old to dress up like that. I also replaced the dresses with skirts from back home since i go there more frequently.
Please wear cloths your own size and not three sizes smaller hijabies. And please please please avoid flowery pattrens.

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

Flowery patterns tend to make a girl look chubby....I have to be honest, its true. It makes a girl look a lot bigger than her own size.

Hmm, yeah my mom was telling me that I should get some of those dresses and wear pants etc with it- she thinks that its gonna look like shalwar qameez american style lol. I personally have never really liked the idea of that- I also think its to many layers and just messes up the whole concept of the dress.

I have looked at maxi dresses but I think that only looks good on a certian body type not on everyone. So thats why Im unsure about getting those also but I have yet to try one. I guess this weekend when I go to the mall im gonna take a long trip to the fitting room lol.
