One big misconception is that Islam is the complete code of life and its not merely a religion with its own set of beliefs, worship practices and injunctions of morality and that Islam is against secularism. Islam stresses on beliefs , worship of one God and gives its own principles of morality but separates this religious part from politics, economics, culture, society, science and education. These areas have nothing to do with Islam and this is secularism.

I have a very humble and sincere request to all the members who consider Islam as a complete way of life may open the Holy Quran and may count that how many verses out of about 6000 verses are about beliefs, worship and morality and how many about politics, economics, culture, society, science, philosophy etc. According to my study more than 90% of Quran is about religion (beliefs+worship+morality) and the rest about other aspects of life but even these verses have underpinnings of morality or beleifs or worship. No details can be found about politics, economics, culture etc. Please open this link and here you will find the subject wise study of Quran and you can judge yourselves whether Quran talks of the whole life or only of religion! http://www.quran-st.net/SUB-INDEX.htm

Forget about misconception in our religion... what are the realities of the ones practising it? What are conceptions of the Muslims of today?

For nearly a generation the Pentacostal Church and a number of Christian denominations debated the concept of whether salvation lay in faith or good works. Eventually, and it took them some time to realize this, they declared faith AND good works were to be tied together. This Islamic mantra found throughout the Quran ties belief (imaan) and amiloo salihaathe (works) together forging a solid iron wall protecting Islam from those the likes of you that would attempt to defy the Quranic edict that it not be made into shreds physically or intellectually. It exorts the believer not to simply adhere whimsically to the part of the book he or she prefers. In its third chapter it decries those that dismiss FOUNDATIONAL verses and inject mysticism where there ought be none. Surah 9 is a clear cut example, beginning with direct law and exortation removing the bismillah so as not to even mince words. A declaration of clear defensive posturing was pronounced with explicit directives. This is not a wahhabi invented doctrine, the concept that the foundational verses prescribe law codes. Islam's biggest detractors, theologians Western and Eastern, its supporters are unanimous that there are prescriptions given in the text (each group views these prescriptions negatively/positively depending on their loyalties and views). Land obligations, Interest driven economics, laws of warfare and peace making, Tithe obligations, Business contracts and their execution, Penal Codes for major crimes are just a few of the series of important societal topics the Quran comments on with a direct order style format. Indirect commentary and orders given by way of parables/stories such as that of Zul Qarnain and his treatment of native peoples, treatment of Prophetic figures via the story of Moses were crystallized by the Qurans own words over why it dwells on such stories. Cultural propriety, contrary to what you say, is dwelled upon as well with direct orders on how society members are to deal with one another, i.e. individual rights are defined by a law code and intertwine with what the Great Divine views as proper. These orders pertain to interactions between the sexes, between the age classes, inter religious groups, tribes, between business partners, etc. It does however leave leg room for places and times. For instance, there are no prescriptions on wedding celebrations, just on doury. There is no order on exact form of governance so long as the Quranic edicts do not conflict with what is hoisted on the peoples. The most effective blow is dealt to your argument by two verses. You see, Osho, its rather obvious that you have some guilt you want to assuage. Your paycheck comes from working for and with NATO and the UN backed Afghan government. Most of your argumentation centers around preserving US presence at all and any costs, even if it be at the expense of disgruntled natives. With this in mind you have attempted to create a soothing narrative in which the Quranic Textus Receptus resembles the New Testament as opposed to the law driven Old Testament. After all, if God doesnt comment on Islamic governance than Osho has a get out of jail free card right? However, direct prescriptions in the text, that are actually fodder for Islam's most vocal critics mind you create quiet a conundrum for you: "O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong." and with respect to the roles of folks of other scriptures and polytheists "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." Such verses were what laid the foundation for what even most of the Northern Afghan groups consider defensive warfare. Once again, this has nothing to do with my opinion on the verses or their practical applicability in the modern or bygone eras. Its merely to show that your commentary is absurd and is driven more by your own self preservation than reality. In the least Soldat Amir does not try to twist the Quran or claim it is something it is not. Remember, only 1 constitutional amendment gaurantees the right of free speech in the whole constitution and amongst the writings of the American Founding Fathers. By your stand of looking at volume or verbage as the benchmark, freedom of speech would be underemphasized since it comprises but 1 line in the whole of the document. - Will not have much time to response. |

The current state of Muslims is just because of YOU. You have read one thousand book but you are not ready teach a single word out of those one thousand books to your fellow Muslims, you are not ready to spend a single day with your fellow Muslims back home. You are sitting in the West and mocking at Muslims. Shame on you, come back and serve your people if you are a man.
