i think these are the biggest misconception which non moslims can have.

One big misconception is that Islam is the complete code of life and its not merely a religion with its own set of beliefs, worship practices and injunctions of morality and that Islam is against secularism.

Islam stresses on beliefs , worship of one God and gives its own principles of morality but separates this religious part from politics, economics, culture, society, science and education. These areas have nothing to do with Islam and this is secularism.

I have a very humble and sincere request to all the members who consider Islam as a complete way of life may open the Holy Quran and may count that how many verses out of about 6000 verses are about beliefs, worship and morality and how many about politics, economics, culture, society, science, philosophy etc.

According to my study more than 90% of Quran is about religion (beliefs+worship+morality) and the rest about other aspects of life but even these verses have underpinnings of morality or beleifs or worship. No details can be found about politics, economics, culture etc.

Cultural propriety, contrary to what you say, is dwelled upon as well with direct orders on how society members are to deal with one another, i.e. individual rights are defined by a law code and intertwine with what the Great Divine views as proper. These orders pertain to interactions between the sexes, between the age classes, inter religious groups, tribes, between business partners, etc.

It does however leave leg room for places and times. For instance, there are no prescriptions on wedding celebrations, just on doury. There is no order on exact form of governance so long as the Quranic edicts do not conflict with what is hoisted on the peoples.

"O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong."

and with respect to the roles of folks of other scriptures and polytheists

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Such verses were what laid the foundation for what even most of the Northern Afghan groups consider defensive warfare.

Once again, this has nothing to do with my opinion on the verses or their practical applicability in the modern or bygone eras.

Its merely to show that your commentary is absurd and is driven more by your own self preservation than reality.

Remember, only 1 constitutional amendment gaurantees the right of free speech in the whole constitution and amongst the writings of the American Founding Fathers. By your stand of looking at volume or verbage as the benchmark, freedom of speech would be underemphasized since it comprises but 1 line in the whole of the document.

You have read one thousand book but you are not ready teach a single word out of those one thousand books to your fellow Muslims, you are not ready to spend a single day with your fellow Muslims back home.
