And make not Allah's name an excuse in your oaths against doing good,
or acting rightly, or making peace between persons; for Allah is one who
heareth and knoweth all things. Allah will not call you to account for
thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and
He is Oft-Forgiving Most Forbearing.


-Surat Al Baqara, Verse 224-225

So remind, if the reminder should benefit;
He who fears (Allah) will be reminded.
But the wretched one will avoid it
[Quran 87: 9-11]

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray: ) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

[2:286]

Say, [O Muhammad], "I am only a warner, and there is not any deity except Allah , the One, the Prevailing.

[38:65]

Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.

[53:32]

‎"And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision"

[Surah Al-Imran (3:169)]

WHERE IS FREE WILL IF GOD SEALS THE HEARTS OF CERTAIN PEOPLE?

This is a sound question for which the Quran itself provides the answer. It is not for God to punish any soul unjustly.

SO WHY DOES GOD SEAL THE HEARTS?

After analysis of all the relevant verses, it becomes clear that despite clear proofs there are those that continue to reject the truth and continue in the error of their ways. It is only then that God seals their hearts.

007:101
“These towns - We relate to you some of their stories, and certainly their messengers came to them with clear arguments, but they would not believe in what they rejected at first; thus does God set a seal over the hearts of the unbelievers”

010.074
“Then after him We sent (many) messengers to their peoples: they brought them Clear Signs, but they would not believe what they had already rejected beforehand. Thus do We seal the hearts of the transgressors”

063.003
“That is because they believed,then they rejected faith: So a seal was set on their hearts: therefore they understand not”

006.110-11
"And We will turn their hearts and their sights, even as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. And even if We had sent down to them the angels and the dead had spoken to them and We had brought together all things before them, they would not believe unless God pleases, but most of them are ignorant"

So therefore, a 'seal' or 'covering' is imposed as a consequence of a transgressor's unwillingness to acknowledge the truth and to remain blind to it because of their own volition. This is in perfect resonance with cause and affect which God has imposed on his creation.
Once again:

"God has sealed their heart, ears and their hearing and over their eyes is a veil and an awesome suffering awaits"
Why? The previous verse which contextualise this verse explains it perfectly.

"Behold as for those that are bent on denying the truth - It is all one to them whether you warn them or warn them not, they will not believe" (2:6)

The Quran talks about this in many verses - As people that due to their own volition, having hearts with which they fail to grasp the truth, the eyes with which they fail to see and ears with which they don't want to listen.

By time !
Indeed, mankind is in loss,
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. [103]

Perhaps you will only sadden yourself to death, in case (you are) following after them, in grief, if they do not believe in this Message. [6:45]






And set forth to them parable of the life of this world: like water which We send down from the cloud so the herbage of the earth becomes tangled on account of it, then it becomes dry broken into pieces which the winds scatter; and Allah is the holder of power over all things. [18:45]






Say [O Prophet]: "I am but a mortal man like all of you. It has been revealed unto me that your God is the One and Only God. Hence, whoever looks forward [with hope and awe] to meeting his Sustainer [on Judgment Day], let him do righteous deeds, and let him not ascribe unto anyone or anything a share in the worship due to his Sustainer!" [110:45]
