Default Great Read: Jonathan Brown's Misquoting Muhammad - 07-30-2017, 06:48 PM

Excellent read by a very studied individual:

Misquoting Muhammad: The Challenge and Choices of Interpreting the Prophet's Legacy - Kindle edition by Jonathan Brown. Religion & Spirituality Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

I am half way through this book and am very impressed with how Dr. Brown explains the history of hadith collection and its role in our Sunni practice. He goes through the history of Mutazila and the critical role played by Imam Shafi in the role of isnaad vs the approaches of Abu Hanifa.

Here is a great lecture by him:
Jonathan Brown ( authenticity narrations of hadieth p.1) - YouTube

Hes a Georgetown professor who traveled to many places to learn from scholars and has some superb history on Shah Waliullah amongst others in his book.

lol, so now some non muslim guy is claiming controversies regarding Muhammad/Islam could be Misquoted, what a joke, These controversies exist because they are part of Islamic history and Islam itself. If you want to take these things out of Islam, then you might as well change all the violent and weird things in Islam. Yet you not allowed to do that because Islam can't change, remember?
