The United States Central Command Digital Engagement team strongly condemns the suicide attack that killed former president professor Burhanudin Rabbani. This deliberate and brutal attack shows the cowardice and inhumanity of terrorists in the face of those who serve to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Professor Rabbani, the former President of Afghanistan and head of the High Peace Council dedicated his political career to working to unite his country. And we know that the loss of such a person will be strongly felt at this significant time of national reconciliation. Rest assured, dear readers, that the Afghan people will not be deterred from pursuing a more peaceful, democratic future for their country and we will continue to stand by them and support their efforts.
The United States will continue to stand side-by-side with the people of Afghanistan against terrorism and violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with Professor Rabbanni’s family, as well as all those affected by this attack.
