Well, I don't understand how reality works but I do reserve doubts regarding this claim. If Iran invaded Afghanistan they would be fighting much more than just Taliban operatives haha. Iran wouldn't have the same stealth that the Americans do (playing friendly with villagers and presenting "I'm here to help" image). They'd behave in a way where they would have every other village militia coming for them anywhere they went. If the Soviets couldn't handle us, how could Iran ever succeed? And who would be their allies? On the other hand, they may be clever enough to gain support of Hazara Shiites.
