why does not knowing about where the air came from etc etc, have to be any more strange than a person who may not be capable of just 'being' and experiencing, because their mind is incapable of relaxing.
have you ever seen peasant farmers in the fields, who offer you some of their precious crop, that they have been busy farming. with beautiful smiles on their faces and a glow of their being? i have seen people who live without the necessity 'to know' in the way of a 'scientist'.
by their personal experience, they may 'know' even more than a person who lives too much in the mind.
different people have different paths.
