As for the photo, there are many different khulis in different pictures of that time, just like the varieties that are available now, this one may have been all the rage. Also the photo you have posted is certainly staged by the English during their colonization of Hind to show in their exhibitions in England. And this Jewish ideas was peddled then too, so it is likely tinged by biased perception. The camera man had a black cloth over his head, the camera was a plate camera on a rickety tripod, def staged. It is possible these soldiers/volunteers were selected and possibly handed some caps the Brits thought would look just right for an artistic shot of 'Pathan' romanticism. Back to Khaibar/Khyber, any one with ideas to origin of name of darra-e-Khyber? |

| it is very possible that few jewish tribes may have indeed come to the area and introduced their culture/religion to the area. I doubt their was a large movement of them though, since there is no historical record and no genetic evidence |

| related to northwest india ???? who claims this ??? a really representative study has yet to come , most of those studies were done in pakistan or india and especially in places where most of "pathans" lived , even they reffered to as pathans , not pashtuns or afghans . so due to marriage to local people , its evident that those "pathans " are related to northern indians aka , punjabis , inhibitants of dehlie etc. but not representative for the gross of pashtun people . we have a variety of faces and roots ,because of the history of our country , as a gate way for west and east and west and south . but we can defenetly distinct between the average pashtun and an iranian , punjabi ,indian , turkmen , uzbek and hazara . atleast i can and people who has alot of business with pashtuns also can . once at work an indian customer approached me , he asked me if i am afghan , and i said yes , he asked me if iam pashtun , and i said yes , and finally he asked me , if am from khandahr and i said again yes . i was really shocked , because he didnt hear me talk in pashto , or could have any clue where i am from , and i asked him how he could knew this . and he said , he lives in dubai and has business partners from afghanistan and kandahar and they just looked like me or similar to me ..... the "jewish " theory can be quiet right , because most of the today living jews are actually ashkenazi and khazarian decendent so they converted later to judaism . their roots where arround the black sea , so where the roots of the first proto aryans who came to central asia and later to india . but its just a hypothesis , and needs ofcourse more proof and especially logical proof ... but we should not be feel less , because we have such a big genetic pool and diversity !!!! and are not a bunch of total inbreeds . look at it on the positive site , even if in the far or near future , if genetic weapons are used against us , there will be still survivers in higher nunmbers compared to more homogenus people like , han chinese , indians , or europeans (especially eastern europeans .) |

| ^ the recent (afghan based) study linked pashtuns to north west indic groups like sindhis, jatts, rajputs. The people who look like these: ![]() ^ it is possible there is some connection, but these groups really make minority of indians over all. the study clearly said that Tajiks and pashtuns are the closes to each other genetically, followed by north west indic groups, but the samples are too small to make proper judgments, I certainly think that baloch might be more closer to pashtuns then sindhi or rajputs for example |
