you know what....I'm just going by their "alleged" history; but yes supposedly the patriarch was originally Tajik/Soghdian I remember reading an account about it. Even if it's not wholly accurate....the point is that Pakhtuns are heterogenous in origin

Yousafzai, Afridi, and Khattaks are very original Pashtun tribes just as Ghilzai and Durrani are.

according to research..Ghilzai are most likely Turks/Scythians

Durranis Hephtalites.

Midnight_Sun actually has a lot of information about this, he'll be able to break everything down he's done a LOT of research on the subject.

i think most of the Afghans that claim they are "sayyid" are lying...they probably claimed that heritage and made up false lineages to gain status in their community.
