nuristan to gilgit is pakol country.
gilgit wear it with tight thin roll, often white, and sometimes with feather.
chitrali wear both white and beige, fatter roll.
nuristani wear darker colours, again with fatter roll.
all these people wear pakol with immaculate style and symmetry.
wazir of FATA prefer dark brown with broad top.
pashtun style, especially waziri, is like the 70s american black man style, tilted badass way, again peticulous eye on detail.

pakistanis who are not from northern areas or pashtunkhwa butcher the pakol in the way they wear it. the roll is either flat or loosely rolled, or there is diagonal stitching, or made from unusual materials and unusual colours. no style, no flair. butcher job.

Had to get rid of my made in peshawar ones, the workmanship was ugly.

Love the chitrali ones.

Although I don't like pakols, the Waziris wear them well. They are rolled neatly and the edges seem undulating. I wonder how they make them like that?

I like the Waziri hairstyle.

They look like Lorenzo Lamas.

I might be going to Afghanistan this coming summer and I am hoping to pick up a lungee, but they might hard to find in balkh consedering the huge non pashtun population and that fact that it is seen as a more Pashtun thing by Tajiks. But hopefully I have no trouble finding one.
