Sometimes the differences between dialects can create humorous, if embarrasing, situations.

"Plar mi khug wo, sag mar sha" (My father was injured, he died last year.)

Due to the morphological differences and heavier borrowing of Persian words in the Western/Southern dialect, the above sentence would literally mean:
"My father was a hog [pig], the dog died."

The same phrase, when used to mean the original, would thus become:

"Plar mi khuzh wo, sazh mar sa."

From an old book I had I learnt that in the 1900s, Pashto was written quite differently, as a result of different pronunciations.

زما was written (and pronunced as) ځما or څما
Same with زمونږ, which became ځمونږ or even څمونګ

However, now its changed.
