Default Difference between some words - 04-19-2010, 04:29 AM

Hello frnds
In this thread, i'll be asking time to time the difference between some words of Pashto and their usage.

This time I want to know the difference between usage of:
Shi and
Sho (male)/Shwa(female)
i want to know that where we use Sho/Shwa and where we use Shi?

Plz elaborate the difference with some simple examples

Thanks in advance

Sho/Shwa ist past tense..
Shi is subjunctive/conditional..

Ahmad mar sho - Ahmad died
Laila mrra shwa - Laila died

(notice that shwa is always used for feminine nouns.. and sho is used for masculine nouns)

Ahmad di mar shi - May Ahmad die! (Khoday di nakayi)
Chi da cha par Nas dard shi, da Limboo Ooba di wachishi - If someone's stomach hurts, they should drink lemon juice.
Chi halak Zwaan shi, Masoolyat ye der shi. - When a boy grows up, his responsibilities grow.

Basicaly, sho/shwa is used to describe something in that past
And shi is used to describe something in the present, something that usually is the case or to express a wish, emotion, possibility, judgment, opinion, necessity, or action that has not yet occurred.

Owaya/Waya
Oska/Ska

The first one is a suggestion e.g. Bata dein
The second is an instruction e.g. Bata do

Same with Oska/Ska e.g. Drink (polite suggestion Pee lein), Drink (instruction Pee lo)
