Default Hello all - 12-31-2015, 10:57 AM

Hey, my name's Rawal. I'm a student of languages, I speak English, Urdu, Punjabi (comprehend most dialects), Hebrew (basic), Persian (intermediate) and am interested in learn Pashto/Pakhto.

I recently bought this Pashto textbook (can't remember the author, might link it later on). It's kind of like a practice book. Hopefully I can talk to ya'll and find some cool people to practice with.

Latin and Hebrew.. That's interesting. Don't you find it difficult to learn various languages at the same time?? Don't you mix them up??
I think you should focus on one or two until you have it figured and then move on or you will waste your time with a mediocre knowledge of them all.

You're right. I kind of left Hebrew as soon as I found that Persian was easier to learn. Plus I was more interested in Iranian/Indian history than that of the Middle East so I quickly shifted to Persian. I'm quite fluid at it now. But not that good at Pashto...

Are you Pashtun? Are there any non-Pashtuns in this forum? :P

I think as a historian you would have had better luck with learning Hebrew and Latin rather than Persian. Those are dying languages that need experts, not Persian. There are millions of Farsi speakers across the globe already.

We do have non Pashtuns in this forum. My father is a Pashtun and my mother, a pashtana, but I am not much of a nationalist myself, to be honest.
