Hi guys and gals,

My reasons for coming here are, I'm afraid, kind of shallow.

I came across the Pashtunwali code a while ago and, whilst I don't, or can't (?) agree with or sympathise with all of the aspects of the code, the ones that really resonate with me are:

Melmastia, Nanawatai & Nang (hospitality, forgiveness/asylum & protection of the weak)

I've travelled a fair amount (although I've yet to be fortunate enough to be able to go to either Afghanistan or Pakistan) and I've witnessed, first hand, all of these traits, in one form or another, in many countries and, sadly, seen their counter-parts in action as well.

Anyway - why "shallow"? Well, because I'd like to get one or all of these as a tattoo but I can't find the Pashto for some of them...and that led me here

I really hope my request isn't offensive.

Can you help?

Here's what I have..

Melmastia - hospitality - missing the Pashto.
Nanawatai - forgiveness/asylum/sanctuary - ننواتی, -- should that last comma be there? Is the script correct?
Nang - protection of the weak - missing the Pashto.

Once again, I hope my request isn't considered to be offensive, it's most certainly not meant to be, and I hope someone can help with my request.

thanks, in advance,

Tim (aka Catweasel)

What exactly is the point of stamping your ass with a random word in a language you don't even speak?? I don't get it. Please help me understand this.
Why not get something that a person looking at you or yourself can understand and be happy about every time you see it.

You can find the pashto quite easily on the internet: http://books.openedition.org/iheid/546

Nang: ننګ
Nanawatai: ننواتی
Melmastia: مېلمستیا
