Huge inspiration, one of the people who inspired me to read and write the dictionary, as well as being an autodidact.

His book is real good, has anyone else read it?

What a wonderful and beloved individual who truly fits the definition of martyr versus what we hear out of other countries regarding Shahid so and so (e.g. the sick fact that some folks call Benazir Bhutto Shahid Bhutto or Najib, Shahid Najib). He understood pragmatic and political realities and was really the one to voice the necessity of taking physical action for the defense of his people. Folks praise Martin Luther King for all his accomplishments, but it was truly Malcolm X who embodied an evolution of thought. MLK on the one hand plagiarized his thesis and subsequently had many affairs with white women nonetheless. I once asked an African American collegue why folks were attempting to subvert X's memory. He said simply: They want us to be docile.

YouTube - MALCOLM X: Chickens Coming Home To Roost

Beware the Salafi Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.

A cool guy. Definitely prefer the after-Hajj Malcolm to the pre-Hajj Malcolm though. Preaching seperation was wrong, as he later realised. His thoughts were in constant development and that is to be admired. Too bad he was killed off by the NOI so early.

By the way, a new biography of Malcolm X has just been released. It seems to be a huge work, taking 12 years to write and includes all aspects of his life both good and bad. Definitely something to look into if you're interested in Malcolm X and want a more nuanced perspective than the one his autobiography draws. You can read about the book here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011...an-behind-myth

Oh, and favorite speech? The one at Oxford Union hands down:
