in a few threads, PF members are derided for living in the west/abroad and spouting views on afghanistan. got me thinking, why have some of you chosen to remain expats, or become afghan-americans or dutch or british etc

so what is your situation?

what is the country of your current residence?
what is your residence status (like legal or illegal immigrant, student, fugee, or a citizen)
why have you chosen this state of residence?
do you intend to return to afghanistan/FATA/KPK

I'll start:

live in uae - dubai (#i am an afghan in UAE#)
have work permit
i am an economic migrant - support my family in afghanistan
chose dubai because it is a muslim country and i am 2.5 hours from kandahar, 3hrs to kabul
i will go home; my family lives there. my home is there.

I am in canada right now

but lived in Saudi Arabia for 14 years

I have been to Dubai, its good, but i think it was much better before back in the 90's when we use to go there on a regular basis. Today its too crowded and really big, back then Dubai was mostly (Deira/Bur dubai) all the new areas were not there

Live in the UK

Grandfather came here in the 60's for work
Not sure if i would return to Swat tbh

why have you chosen this state of residence? I didn't exactly have much choice.
do you intend to return to afghanistan/FATA/KPK Perhaps. It depends on many things. Nothing is certain. If the conditions are right then of course.

I live in Pakistan and i am a pakistani citizen...
I have spent few years in iran, libiya and Qatar.
As my family is financially stable so i have no appetite for living in westren countries...but i wish to have tour of europe.

what situation..? my parents spend most of their time in afghanistan so being the oldest sibling doesn't give me a choice other than staying here with the kids.

why have you chosen this state of residence? i don't know why they chose it but i am glad they chose canada..
do you intend to return to afghanistan/FATA/KPK after moving here around 2002 i went back in 2008, 2009, last june and i plan on going this march. i am not sure i would want to live there but i do stay there for the while that my parents visit my siblings here and it has been a very pleasant experience.

A: It was my dream to go to UK and study there.

A: I love to go back to my swat and live there for the whole of my life with my family with my people on my land.
