Default Eshila ? - 01-02-2015, 08:40 PM

No idea how to spell it but I hope you know what im talking about! My mother in law used to make it for breakfast on the weekends..reminded me of a crepe but without the eggs and a little crispy.
Can anyone tell me how to make it ?

Also ..whats the difference between this and paratha? My sister in law calls it paratha but the parathas I am used to are the indian variety.

Please help me out ..I want to make for my family!

Its shali and paratha not eshila...
Paratha is when you make dough and keep it in fridge for time being covered. Then you take a piece ,make it curcular and roll it with rolling pin on a flat surface (clean) ....while doing so put some dry flour so that it shouldnt be sticky. And then put it on fry pan or a tawwa ...fry it with oil...this is paratha.

Shali is when you take some flour ,add water and put salt to taste.Add water to an extent that it becomes semi solid..spread it on tawwa pr fry pan and later add oil...once fried take it out.But be careful...never put it on cold tawwa or fry pan ...otherwise you ll mess it up.(it ll be torn).Make fry pan hot first then spread it with either fingers or spoon.

"When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only Want to make peace!" (2.11)

And when it is said to them (hypocrites): "Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad Peace be upon him , Al-Ansar and Al-Muhajirun) have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not."(2.13)
