PESHAWAR: The Political Authorities of FR DI Khan have constructed a flood protection wall and irrigation channel for the community of Baskai, FR DI Khan.

A press release issued by Directorate of Information FATA Secretariat said that due to seasonal flooding, damages were caused to the properties, assets and livestock of the inhabitants of the area. At the request of the communities of the area, the Political Administration prioritized the project and constructed a 91-meter flood protection wall and 152 meters of irrigation channel, which will benefit about 1760 individuals. The flood protection wall will not only protect many acres of fertile farmland from erosion and crop damage but also improve the livelihoods and agriculture in the area and protect community houses.

The project used locally available material and was completed by hiring skilled and unskilled local labor.

The local community elders expressed their gratitude to the Political Administration for responding in a timely manner to their urgent needs and hope that the project will help ease their day-to-day hardship and boost local livelihoods and income.
