Default Ghani Inaugurates Darul Aman Palace Reconstruction Project - 05-31-2016, 07:42 PM

President Ashraf Ghani on Monday inaugurated the reconstruction project of Darul Aman Palace in Kabul, and said it was one of the main demands of Afghans to see the palace renovated.
He said a museum will be built in the palace and that its reconstruction will cost $16.5 million USD, which be paid for out of government's budget.
"Reconstruction of Darul Aman Palace is our nation's demand; therefore, a national museum will be built here and important guests will be invited," Ghani said.
Meanwhile, Urban Development Affairs Minister Sayed Sadat Mansour Naderi said the reconstruction work will be carried out quickly.
According to officials, Afghan architects and engineers will work on the project which will take four years.
"It is a big step forward and it has our support," said Chief Executive of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah.
Meanwhile, Senator Lailuma Ahmadi said the palace is clear evidence of crimes that were done to Kabul and its residents and that it should not be covered up by its reconstruction.
"They should build a similar building besides Darul Aman Palace in order to leave the palace as a sign of war crimes for the next generations to come," she said.

I think Senator Lailuma Ahmadi is kind of right, they should let it stay as a ruin as a reminder of the crimes, they can make the surounding more nicer like a park or something. Like what they did in Japan. I forgot the name of the palace but they let it stay unrenovated after it was damaged by the atomic bomb but made a nice park surrounding it.....

It looks more attractive and historical, why they are reconstructing it? Probably to make some commission out of 16 m $

Historical, maybe but attractive? .. You have to think economics, because of the state of the thing the surrounding areas are also run down, nobody wants to build or develop in a giant dump. Once the palace is restored the whole area will start to develop. Alothough 16.5Million seems abit too much, we are talking Afghanistan here it could even be build from scratch in half of that price.

Either way if they plan to restore it, they should ask Germans to do it. Germans have done tons of restorations and even rebuild entire old castles in Germany, they know how to do it properly....

you need a knocked down and shackled up palace in order to be reminded of reprucussions of war?? how sick are you people?? look at the mutilated bodies of your country men. maybe you can drag them in museums and pin them somewhere in the corner and shudder at the very idea of war. since we have evolved so much as compassionate beings when it comes to the loss or pain of each other.

****ing art enthusiasts.. your entire country is a ****ing museum.

Restore it.

It can be some kind of image for "recovery" after the wars etc.
