reminds me of manali, in india, too, where i lived for about 9 months. i stayed in a couple of different villages.

nor/west, above delhi, on the way to ladakh. in the 70's they had horse treks going from manali to ladakh. probably go by vehicle these days. saw some AMAZING photos from one guys trip, but never did it myself.
