Traditional Pashtun society can be roughly divided into two classes; the land-owning class and the artisan class (including farmer, cobbler, carpenter, barber, meson, etc.) There is an intermediate religious class i.e., mian, mullah, etc.

The artisan class is considered low and has no status in Pashtun society. The religious class is respected but has no share in political or social decision making. The land-owning class is considered the actual and in a sense the real Pashtun.

A robber, a killer, etc. has more respect in Pashtun society than a singer or a musician. Similarly, a violator of law has more respect in Pashtun society than a law-abiding hard-working fellow from artisan classes. In Pashtun society, there is no room for different dimensions of soft culture including fine arts. Pashtun concept of worth/honor is very much rooted in power and masculinity.

That is why arts and professions couldn't flourish in Pukhtun society.

Yeah, I guess. I photoshoped eyes before... one of the easiest techniques.
