GARDEZ (PAN): A first-ever gynecology hospital was inaugurated in the southeastern city of Gardez, capital of Paktia province, on Thursday, officials said.

The single-storey building hospital named 'Gouhar Tajbigam Gynecology Hospital,' was completed in one year at the cost of 14 millions afghanis provided by the Bayte Foundation, said Dr. Nader Noori, provincial public health director.

The 20-bed hospital is spread over 20 acres of land, he added.

"Although there are gyne wards in other hospitals, but this is the first-ever separate hospital for gynecology," Noori siad.

Happy with the completion of the hospital, Noori hoped the facility would solve problems facing local people.

Head of the Bayte Foundation in Paktia, Eng. Ahsanullah, who participated in the inauguration ceremony, said their foundation was paying attention to the problems being faced by the people of the province.
