Pakistani cricket potfolio was under the direct control of Musharraf during his regime. This shows how Cricket has been used to artificially fabricate the feelings of patriotism and specially against India.Pakistan want an enemy in the form of India even in games to keep the nations living in Pakistan glued in an artificial bond of patritotism so they keep hating the largest democracy in the world and keep cherishing the injustices committed by the military owned state. For example Younas Khan won the Twenty20 cup for Pakistan but is facing a trial becuase he is a Pashtun while the playboy Shoaib Malik became the hero in the Pakistani media just for marrying a tennis player after ruining the lives of many muslim girls. The reason is obvious. He is Punjabi and hence the toy of Punjabi elite whose flirteous act is turning into an event of glory.

Afridi will be boom boom afridi till he serves the purpose of the ruling militarty Junta which wants to use cricket as an igniting force of hatred against India ,once that is over ,a humiliating fate will await him because ,afterall, he is a Pashtun despite being awarded the player of the decade by ESPN just recently.

No you are wrong.

Afghan is a nationality nowadays. Its not an ethnic group

It is on Pashtun's domicile till today. It is what the A stands for in Pakistan. It is the name used for Pashtuns even by mufakkre pakistan Iqbal. It has been extended to a nationality, just like Russian has. By your logic a russian in Ukraine ceases to russian, because he holds a ukranian passport. However a chechen becomes a russian. Doesn't that look odd?

James Pakhtuns have been indoctrinated to take Cricket serious in order to distract them from their core national issues like freedom and basic rights by inculcating a false sense of nationhood in them about Pakistan.

^some pashtun dude.

I'm surprised that they won the tournament.
They have some dangerous Pashtuns.

He is a Pakistani pathan, born in peshawar..Full name kabir Khan

Profile:

A powerfully-built left-arm seamer, Kabir Khan made his Test and one-day debut on the tour of Sri Lanka in 1994-95, and went on to make 10 one-day appearances over the next six seasons without every being able to command a regular run in the side. He did little wrong - his economy rate was respectably under four-an-over - but lacked penetration. That was also his problem in his Test outings - he took 5 for 223 in his last two Tests against Zimbabwe - and he was discarded after four games in less than a season.

So has shahrukh khan ? your point being.

Please dont call us Pathans, please.

And he is Afghan from Kabul who seeked refuge due to the war. He has nothing to do with us Pakistanis, we just gave him a place to life. He does not even have Pakistani nationality hence coaching Team Afghan.

Pakistani thats his info according to cricinfo.com, thats where i referenced it from. He is from Peshawar, he is a pakistani national who was dropped after playing for a few seasons and is now coaching the Afghan team

Anyways i was merely pointing out that fact as a sign of goodwill

More importantly,it is the fact that neither a world class actor like SRK [who is even worshipped ,I mean his statue] could have raised to such heights nor Adnan Sami Khan or Kabir Khan etc. in Pakistan.

The current Pakistan ,with no substantial history of her own ,if , atleast, makes her institutions stronger and respect sovereignty of Afghanistan and India, who are her permanent neighbours, would atleats have some justification of surviving and moving in the right direction.

However ,according to most of realistic analysts [not self proclaimed patriots who have opted not to even live IN Pakistan] this is an optimistic and exagerated picture of the helm of affairs going on inisde Pakistan.

well....... i supported a team comprising of more pukhtoons in the past , some times India and sometimes Pakistan.
A time was when there were Zaheer khan, Irfan Pathan and yousaf Pathan and that number outshined Pakistan team so i supported India..then there came Umer Gul, younas Khan etc...and i inclined to Pakistan....
But Now..........

The excitment begins........
A team with all Pukhtoon players...

Aghanistan....

surely i will support..am much excited how will they play....
though they are not too experienced but hopefully they will come out as cricket Champions in the preceding year..Inshallah.....

But If Afghanistan wins this world T20 cup then it would be great!!, but even making it to the super 8 would be really hard because beating India and South Africa won't be easy for Afghanistan.
they need to beat one of them to have a chance to go to super 8s.

Master Khan

But Afghanistan just won the Asia cup. Don't you think team Afghan is competitive at all.

will Afghanistan be able to play in all T20 tournaments or just this one?
The teams in the Asia cup were weak anyway.
now they are playing against the best in the world.
South Africa and India are strongs teams you know.

Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan captain, has said his team is ready "tactically and technically" to defend their ICC World Twenty20 title in the West Indies from April 30. Following the penalties handed out by the PCB for breaches of discipline in Australia, Afridi also said it was his "mission as captain, with the support of players and team management, to keep the team away from any controversy."

Most of the Pakistan squad left for the Caribbean from Lahore on Saturday via Dubai and London. Mohammad Asif will fly directly to London because he is not allowed to enter the UAE, while Mohammad Sami will reach the West Indies from New York, because he does not have a British visa. Pakistan also survived a fitness scare over wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, who was unwell but passed fitness tests on Friday.

You made me get out my guest mode to ask you that .

well islamia college has some huge flat grounds, greate for playing cricket and every afternoon we would go there to play with my friends, but the ''chaukidars'' would allways cick us out of the ground because it was for the students even though the local pashtuns would play with out any problem, but then we found out what they really wanted was a bribe. You know how pakistani police are right ''chai pani'' but some of them were racist as well

Never understood how cricket fascinates people.

I absolutely LOVE cricket as there is so much things to do in the sport, to outsmart and outplay the opposition. To bowl in many different variations, many different batting styles and of course fielding. As football is to brazil...cricket is to afghanistan, pakistan and india, for young kids its a dream to play for their national teams..to get out of poverty..

South Africa 139 for 7 (Kallis 34, Hamid 3-21) beat Afghanistan 80 (M Morkel 4-20, Langeveldt 3-12) by 59 runs

Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn delivered Afghanistan a harsh lesson by demolishing them for 80 to end their World Twenty20 dream and hand South Africa a safe path to the Super Eights. There was no mercy from Morkel and Steyn, whose speed and bounce was simply of a standard that Afghanistan had never faced before, and Charl Langeveldt chipped in with three wickets to confirm the result.
The 59-run victory showed the newcomers that, for all their incredible progress over the past couple of years, there is a long way still to go. Afghanistan's spirits were high after their bowling effort, having restricted South Africa to a respectable 139 for 7, but the chase was quickly and comprehensively derailed.

Steyn (2 for 6) beat the bat with his outswing and had Noor Ali caught behind for a duck in the first over, before Morkel ran through the middle order to finish with 4 for 20. The batsmen struggled to react to the quality bowling and especially the short deliveries, and six of the ten dismissals were caught behind the wicket.
That they avoided recording the lowest ever Twenty20 international total (http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/records/283172.html) was a feat in itself after they were 14 for 6, but the change bowlers proved more to their liking. Mirwais Ashraf gave Afghanistan's fans a few happy moments when he clobbered a monstrous six off Albie Morkel, before Hamid Hassan made a quick 22 from 21 balls, as the lower order cleared the boundary a combined five times.
It was pleasing that Afghanistan fought it out to the end in their first major tournament, but equally appropriate that the eight strongest teams have now progressed to the next stage. There might have been some nervy moments for South Africa at the halfway point - their batsmen had made a strong start and at one stage 180 looked possible - but they need not have worried.
Still, there are some issues for them to address before their next match against New Zealand, notably their scoring rate. Against India, they struggled to judge the tempo of their chase and this time they found it hard to capitalise on a brisk opening in which they raced to 45 for 1 from four overs.
Having struck two healthy sixes over midwicket and long-on off Mirwais in the fourth over, Jacques Kallis soon became tied down and when he tickled a catch down the leg side off Hamid's first ball he had 34 off 33. Hamid was the best of the bowlers for Afghanistan, fast and straight, and finished with 3 for 21 including the lbw of Mark Boucher and JP Duminy, who was wonderfully caught at cover by Nowroz Mangal.
Afghanistan's fielding was sharp, if not always clean, and they began with the snappy run-out of Loots Bosman, caught short by a Shapoor Zadran throw from fine leg. Graeme Smith's quick 27 ended with a skied catch from the second ball of Mohammad Nabi's spin, and the legbreaks of Samiullah were impressively economical.
AB de Villiers cleared long-off against Nowroz and crashed a ball into the windows of the press box, but soon afterwards he was beaten by the same bowler and stumped for 17. There were some late runs from Albie Morkel and Duminy that helped South Africa avoid some blushes having been 90 for 5, and the opening bowler Zadran returned for a wicket in the final over.
It was an appropriate reward for Zadran, who started the match with a wonderful bouncing outswinger that comprehensively beat the bat of Smith. Unfortunately for Afghanistan, Steyn and Morne Morkel had a few of those up their sleeves as well.

Afridi's poor judgement and horrible fielding cost us the match against Austrailia, we could have easily won if he had stopped Hafeez when he was getting thrashed and used Razzaq instead..So many catches got dropped, Australia would have lost hands down

Lets hope they dont make the same mistake with England

yea you are right Talal....Afridi is not good in captaincy as Younus khan......thats what i was thinking at that time, that hafeez shud be replaced by Razzaq but he didn't. ....we missed Umer Gul too....why they don't try Asif in place of Sami?

haha yeah pure pawnage

Despite the abysmal fielding and poor choices by Afridi Pakistan i think still has a good chance of winning T20

Why ?

Pakistan is playing with 90% new players, who have very little experience and still they came so close to beating both the Aussies and England.

England won by like 4 balls, had we capped them a lil bit tighter and if that idiot hadnt dropped all those catches that match was in the bag

Aussies, same story..we could have easily chased that total had afridi and razzak held out .. and not to mention we wouldnt have had to chase that mighty total if only Afridi was sensible enough to stop hafeez when he was getting thrashed.. Those few runs and the dropped catches cost us that match

I hope pak beats both the kiwis and the africans, thats the only way they stand a chance in the semis
