Don't you just love liberalism, secularism and democracy? Let's have it in Afghanistan. Maybe someday we can become a proud nation with lots and lots of pregnant teenage girls without husbands and people lining up for clinics to have them treated for STD's!

Thats how we might catch up with modersn Western industrialized economies!

In the United States, roughly 0.6% of the population is infected with HIV. That's like what? 200,000 people out of a population of 310,000,000 (two lakhs out of 310 million).

In comparison, 310 million people live with free liberties, free enterprise, the bill of rights, access to good health-care, a working police force, food security, physical security, etc, etc, etc, etc.

So a system is broken because 99.4% of the people don't have HIV but 0.6% do? Your common sense meter is, I have to say, broken.

^Isn't it better than being uneducated?

?? Unmarried Teenage Parenthood in socially "deprived" areas in Western cities doesn't exactly equal educated people.

Exactly, the advancement of knowledge and science in the West is mistakenly equated by many of our inferiority complex bitten neo liberals with saying goodbye to morality and social values.

For women, it is not engaging in sexuality early in the teens, getting pregnant unmarried, or their kids not knowing who to call their father that is a role model to be followed.

The only good thing about the West is, the minority few who devote their lives to and work their as**s off and contribute to Science and the Economy. These are the ones who also pay off for the delinquent behavior of the rest.

As for the working police force, social services and all, this is all money talking, the same money they stole from you and I and then kept it running with their sweat.

Remove their money and you will find we are far better human beings than these Jadeed Jaahileen (from the Jahlieen of Kufr i.e. Makkah).

Turn the clocks to the time when they had no money like us, even though they had Christianity, these Jadeed Jahlieen used to eat their own children, being a thief was considered noble, and except for the few good Christians, Juvenile immoral behavior was rampant. Golden phenomena like Child Labor was invented by these very people.

The bottom line is, they are only as good as their pockets, take that away and you will find we are far better than they will ever be, and, alot of this money they possess is stolen money from nations they have plundered.

Wording, aside, I think you hit on a very important point, because in the context of history, "development" and "progression" are very subjective.

The West, is not necessarily, the model of all things to aspire to.

It is not only bad parenting, but I think schools do not do much about encouraging abstinence.

i have three friends that had gotten pregnant in high school. They didnt finish high school, and right now have not been able to complete their GED.

In schools they specifically have near enough a whole subject on "Sex Education" in lessons and teach boys and girls how to use condoms and they even display nude videos to "educate" us about sex. No wonder more children are becoming curious about this and want to try it.

Bad parenting is also a factor, especially with the muslim community here in my town now parents are leaving their children to hang about on the streets and do whatever they like. If only they knew what this leads to.....

In the olden day(100 years back) schools did they ever teach about such a thing? There wasn't much pregnancies and STD's back then. Mainly its influence of the media(bolly lolly molly hollywood). In the adults heads we might think that yes its good that they know about this but kids are kids, you tell them not to do something they WILL do it due to their curiosity. Especially with all this "love" portrayed and the promotion of boyfriend girlfriend bullcrap this is bound to happen.

I think what kids see on tv is what has brought about so many negative behaviors. Kids are growing up too fast because they learn too much too soon. Even on channels supposedly for younger kids like the the Disney Channel and Nikelodean there are young girls wearing trashy clothes (never appropriate but especially not on young girls) and on most of these shows the characters have girlfriends and boyfriends.

There is this conspiracy theory, That the Jews who are mostly the owners of such cartoons corporations do it on purpose so other ethnic groups get brainwashed.

We love to blame everything on the Jews. But do you personally HONESTLY believe that, Kandahary? You don't think that they're brainwashing not just "other ethnic groups" but their own as well, since Jews, too, watch the same things that "other ethnic groups" watch?

Every single thing wrong with the world today is Jews' fault, especially according to the average Muslim. C'mon, marey, not you too!

Hey its not specifically the Jews its the people who work for the zionist agenda, I've even met good Jews they are nice people. I don't consider them as true Jews myself..

Anything could be a reason for teenage pregnancies; Bad parenting, wrong friends, media influence, yearning to know what the feeling of being with a man is like, etcetera. The only person who can stop teenage pregnancy is the female individual herself. She can choose whether her desires takes her over, or her sense? Of course parents should keep an eye on their children and be aware of what their kids are up to and indeed good parenting plays a huge role, but sometimes despite of all the love and care kids go on the wrong path because they had rather make their friends/boyfriend happy than their parents.

These things don't happen in West only, I have heard people complain about this in Pekhawer, in Punjab and even in Kabul. Only difference in West is that those kids can't be oppressed here in the West. I think it's their personal lives and we shouldn't judge why they do these things, because if they consider themselves Muslims and yet do these things then it's them who have to answer Him on the judgement day, not me or you. But what I am worried about is the next generation, especially since Islamic events in more and more places are being banned, it's possible next generation starts sharing the common Western thoughts regarding Muslims and our culture. What will happen then? How we gonna cope with that?

^ I know, we can't dream of keeping up our culture even after tens of generations. The day we decided we want to move to West and stay there permanently was the day we should have accepted anything can happen and anything can change. Except for my siblings, all my cousins were born and raised in West and the oldest one is fifteen years old, yet at least half of them have finished Quran-e-Sharif and one of my cousins managed to convert two of his friends to Islam. I am very happy to see even after two generations we have maintained our religion and culture, but only Allah Subhana Wa Tallah knows what's gonna happen generation after?

But for some reasons, I have got my faith in those Afghans who are planning to keep their culture. There was this Khosti family in Holland who had lived there for thirty years but seriously, you couldn't tell! Mostly it's Afghans themselves who decide to act like an 'Europayi'.
